Project: Structure & Joinery - Model Making

Deliverable: design and 1:1 model of multi-purpose display shelf / bookshelf 

Size limit: 3’ W X 3’ B X 3’ H

Material: Rubberwood / MDF , SS / Iron rods

Joineries Used: Finger lap joint , Half lap joint, dovetail joint

With the purpose to understand structure and joineries, I was assigned to design a bookshelf / multi-purpose display shelf using traditional wooden joineries. This assignment was conducted to acquire form sensibility, material knowledge and prototyping skills.

I designed a multi-purpose shelf with a cuboid form having an interesting linear profile and assembled with traditional joineries like half lap, finger lap and dovetail joint.  Made 1:1 model of the same.
